Eb & flow Yoga Studio is the ONLY 200-Hour Yoga Alliance Power Yoga teacher training program in Chicago grounded in both Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga and Yin Yoga Methodology. The program director, Dr. Eboni Howard, is a Certified Baptiste Power Vinyasa Teacher, trained by Baron Baptiste and other Master Baptiste Teachers. Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga is a combination of yoga traditions, including Ashtanga and Iyengar. It is grounded in the physical aspects of the body and embraces innovation and adaptation to spark total transformation in your body, mind and spirit. This tradition doesn’t ask the student to fit into a prescribed model but instead supports the student to become who they really are.

Eb & flow Yoga Studio is also the ONLY yoga teacher training program in Chicago grounded in Yin Yoga. Several program faculty and studio teachers are trained in Yin Yoga by Masters Paulie Zink, Bernie Clark, Paul Grilley, and Sarah Powers. Yin Yoga enables us to dive deeper into the soft tissues of our bodies: ligaments, bones, joints, muscles. This style also supports innovation and adaptation to meet the needs of all unique bodies and levels! You will come out of this training with the foundational knowledge needed to teach Yin Yoga.
What will you learn? In addition to learning Baptiste Power Vinyasa and Yin Yoga, we will build on your personal strengths to offer yoga through discussion, practice teaching, coaching, and self-inquiry. We will begin the program by learning the foundations and traditions of the yoga practice, including the 8-fold path, (or 8 limbs) of yoga. These eight steps serve as guidelines on how to live a meaningful and purposeful life. We will cover asana/postures, history of yoga, hands-on assisting, meditation approaches, Ayurveda practices, anatomy/physiology, the human energy system, leadership and the key tools for being a powerful teacher.
When are the training dates? This 7-month program meets one weekend per month, with homework, studio practice, teaching, assisting, self-inquiry, and other assignments to be completed outside of group training weekends. Group training weekends are October 13-15, November 10-11, December 8-10, January 19-21, February 9-11, March 9-11 and April 13-15. During training weekends we will meet Fridays, 6:00pm - 9:30pm and Saturday and Sundays, 8:30am - 7:00pm.
Yin Yoga Teacher Training Program: Yin 1 and Yin 2
Offered by veteran yoga teacher, Dar Vanderhoop, these weekend immersion teacher training programs focus on Yin Yoga. Her teacher training programs are an interactive practice. Over the weekend, you are going to cover a variety of topics, and you are going to practice 2-3 hours each session.
Yin 1(18 hours CE YA credits). This training will be an interactive practice. Over the weekend, you learn a variety of foundational Yin topics. In short we will learn every Yin posture and their names and you will practice 2-3 hours in each session. You will explore the the science of Yin, the key preinciples of Yin, assisting and the use of props, and the foundations for teaching a Yin class.
Yin 2 (18 hours CE YA credits). This training dives deeper into meridian and chakra theory, as it relates to the Yin practice and postures. The weekend will focus on how to develop more complex yin flows as well as how to successfully theme a class. You will explore the mental, emotional and physical qualities of the postures and, more specifically, how these qualities relate to the meridians and chakras of the subtle body. Mindfulness practices, meditation and breathing exercises will be included. Aromatherapy will also be included in this in-depth training.

- Basic Yin anatomy
- A deeper dive into the science of Yin (fascia, joints, ligaments)
- The three principles of Yin
- Teaching mantras
- Assisting and the use of props: bolsters, straps, blocks, the wall
- Teaching sessions where you will teach with feedback
- Creating Yin flows and class themes
- Breath-work and a variety of pranayama to use in your classes
- Meridians, Chi, Mindfulness, Chakra theory applied specifically to Yin postures
